At the Hoa Bien Restaurant in St. Paul, Minn., Met-Tile was the roof of choice because it looks like clay or ceramic tile and provides the Oriental look required for the project. According to the installer, K.F. Loosen Construction Co., "Met-Tile panels could also be successfully installed over the sway in the roof design. Both the tower roof and aprons have sways at both ends of the panel: The hips sway from 16/12 down to 4/12 and then up again at the ends. We were able to maintain this sway by using the individual tile caps."
The project features a Meadow Green color that mimics the look of Asian tile but at a much lower cost than ceramic roofing. The availability of Met-Tile in various blue and green shades, in fact, makes it a popular choice for many Asian-theme projects. Architect for the restaurant was DJR Architecture, Minneapolis; the general contractor is Dew Corporation, North St. Paul; and the installer is K.F. Loosen Construction Co., Inc., Cloquet, Minn.
