Article reprint: How to evaluate metal "tile panel" roofing systems

Met-Tile now Available in Custom Sheared Lengths!

Met-Tile now offers its tile-look steel panels in custom sheared lengths. In addition to our standard lengths of 2-20 ft. (available in 1-ft. increments), the "tile panels" can be factory-cut to almost any desired fractional length to meet your project requirements.

Available for a nominal surcharge, this new service eliminates the need to field cut fractional-length panels by hand at the job site -- saving time and money and eliminating material waste.

Custom sheared panels can also help to improve quality control and enhance results on all types of roof installations. Contact the Met-Tile factory for further information.

Met-Tile® Roofing Approved in Texas for Wind and Impact Resistance

Met-Tile®, Inc., manufacturer of a metal “tile panel” roofing system that combines the popular look of Spanish tile with the benefits of metal roofing, has been approved in Texas for both windstorm resistant and impact resistant performance.

Met-Tile roofing complies with the wind loads specified in Section 120 of the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) Windstorm Resistant Construction Guide and Section 103 of the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association Building Code for Windstorm Resistant Construction.

As a result, the product is accepted for use in designated catastrophe areas along the Texas Gulf Coast when installed in accordance with the product evaluation developed by TDI. In addition, Met-Tile satisfies the testing criteria of Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. (UL) Standard 2218 for impact resistance.

Corrosion Limitations

Met-Tile panels are made of Zincalume™ coated steel that provides excellent corrosion resistance for most applications. In oceanfront climates (i.e., within 1800 ft. of a salt water body) or other unusually corrosive environments, an aluminum substrate is recommended in place of steel. Visit the Met-Tile aluminum page for further information.
