Blue Roof Makes an Impact in California Neighborhood

A Gallery Blue Met-Tile roof has made a big impact on the look of this ranch house compared to the existing shingle roof.

Metal roofing is not commonly used on houses in the Torrance, Calif. area where Ruth Stevens lives: Tile and shingle predominate. “I love the look of tile roofing, and wanted a blue tile roof that would complement the existing trim on our house and the tile in our backyard swimming pool area,” states Stevens. But the choices were limited.

Glazed ceramic tile from Asia was available but was extremely expensive. Due to its weight, conventional tile was also out of the question. Met-Tile offered a cost-effective option.

“When we chose Met-Tile, I felt some concern about how it would fit into the neighborhood,” says Stevens. “But the response couldn’t have been more positive. Everyone is very complimentary, and very curious about the roof. To most people, it looks like some sort of specially finished tile.”

Roofing contractor Mike McConnell of A1 All American Roofing Co. (San Diego), the contractor who installed the roof, agrees. “I’m always amazed at how much Met-Tile looks like Spanish tile after the product is installed,” he says.

Homeowner Stevens adds: “The new roof has really changed the entire appearance of the house and caused it to stand out – in a good way. We believe it will stand up over time and add value to our home.”
