Met-Tile Tops Maryland Custom Home

"...this type of roof can combine an attractive tile appearance with light weight, low maintenance, excellent wind, fire and weather resistance, energy-efficient performance and long life."

A Met-Tile roof was chosen to top a new 8,000 sq. ft. custom home in Frederick, MD. According to the builder, Fred W. Rudy Builders & Contractors, Inc. of Middletown, MD, the owner of the property had used Met-Tile on a previous house and had been happy with the results.

"Though metal tile facsimile roofing is not often seen in this part of the East, it is becoming increasingly popular there," notes Met-Tile president Terry Holman. "Homeowners like the fact that this type of roof can combine an attractive tile appearance with light weight, low maintenance, excellent wind, fire and weather resistance, energy-efficient performance and long life."

The roofing system, installed by Heidler Roofing Services of York, PA, had to be designed with many hips and gables. The builder and installer worked closely with the Met-Tile factory to make sure the roofing panels and accessories precisely met project requirements. The new home, designed by architect Lakin and Moats of Funkstown, MD, consists of two floors plus a finished basement and is of conventional stick-built construction with brick veneer.
